Remember, we are not operating in a bubble here, if little to no football is being played elsewhere in the world and teams everywhere are shedding players and/or wages - we have every chance to retain whoever we want in much the same way as if the landscape was rosey.

They haven't released their players, they have stood them down, which is something that I don't think we have in NZ employment law but is something they can do in Australia. They don't have the government paying 30% of the wages of affected businesses in Australia as we do in NZ, so hopefully the Phoenix don't have to be that drastic.
