Out of interest this is the below full strength NZ U23 side that managed two 1-1 draws against Young Socceroos (all A League players from memory), last year. They looked good under Des.

https://www.nzfootball.co.nz/newsarticle/81761?newsfeedId=844973&newsfeedPageNum=7

New Zealand: 1. Cameron Brown, 4. Hunter Ashworth (14. William Jones 46'), 5. George Stanger, 7. Myer Bevan, 9. Max Mata (8. Jake Porter 83'), 10. Clayton Lewis, 11. Oliver Whyte (20. Dylan de Jong 62'), 13. James McGarry (6. Dane Schnell 62'), 16. Gianni Stensness, 17. Logan Rogerson (18. Lachlan McIsaac 89'), 19. Noah Billingsley (2. Jordan Spain 62')

Substitutes not used: 3. Robert Tipelu, 12. Conor Tracey (GK), 15. Sean Liddicoat, 21. Aidan Munford (GK)

Lewis, McGarry and maybe Bevan on Talay's radar.

Rogerson's leg break untimely.

What about Oli Whyte? Looks a class act at CL level I've read. Brief spell in Portugal.

Stensness is locked in at CCM?

Adam Mitchell - his career seems to have nose dived?

Cam Howieson - rumoured to have turned down trialling at the Nix before? Prefers Auckland over Wellington or something.

Be interesting to know if those ACFC guys are on less coin now, since their club has gone what 3 years without a CWC appearance (presuming this year's is cancelled).
