I have a feeling that the deal with Bournemouth only happened for the Nix because Foley (or actually McFlynn) knew something about the Caceres rule change. No way an EPL club would have bought Paulsen otherwise, no matter what fairy tales we like to tell ourselves about how good our players are (after one season).
Yes I might be wrong. But it certainly is an option c) to the options a) and b) put forward by Doloras in an earlier post here.

Poppycock.
Paulsen won a tonne of awards for the Nix last season. Villa signed Joe Gauci , and Gauci was good enough to early on, make the bench in the EPL. Significant difference being Gauci had 3.5 seasons in the ALM, but still a good precedent for Paulsen and Bournemouth. The Cherries will make money out of AP.
I mean the initial reaction on here by some is they got him cheap, about half of what Adelaide got for Gauci - a €1.5m ($2.4m AUD) fee plus add ons. But then again Gauci is older & more experienced.
