Harmon is trying hard I think but he's jammed in a corner between a Board that don't give a toss about the Phoenix and are happy making money and a staff from a by-gone era.

Is this it?

I think this is the crux of the matter - and if the Board won't/can't change from that position then an alternative will happen (either in Petone or Eden Park).

Pity the DP never really touched on why Welnix are costing up an alternative.

Just as an amusing little anecdote, I was eating lunch the other day with a workmate (in Burger Fuel in Courtenay Place, yumm) when a stadium employee stormed in, angrily, and demanded to know if it was me on the radio saying that the Stadium and the Council should do more to help the Phoenix be sustainable. I said it was, and he raged at me for a few minutes, spewing some commercially sensitive details about payments to and from the Phoenix and generally making a dick of himself. Then he stormed out. The entire audience of Burger Fuel patrons was shell-shocked. I was flabbergasted.

So, while Harmon is putting on a very brave face and seems like a good bloke, he isn't working with the sharpest tools in the shed.
