Is it? I feel like he just said something along those lines because he signed a 1 year deal? if we offered him 2 or 3 years I'm sure he would've taken it. He was playing in the Iraq league I don't think he would've had many better offers and even if he believed in himself that he'd be able to impress and get a move elsewhere after a year, he'd still take the extra security of a multi-year contract over a 1 year deal.

In saying that I don't blame the club at all for only signing him for 1 year, he was a gamble signing and after our recent import blips on multi year deals it was probably the right thing to do. iirc when he signed we were all very pessimistic about the signing and if was on a multi-year deal I'm sure people would've been even more upset.
