All that chat about Chief being safe because of NZ employment laws has been debunked then with Robertson being sacked as All Blacks coach.
The other thing being that if that was what was keeping him in a job ie the owners wanted him out and he was using that to hold on, he’d struggle to get work in the A league after that you’d think.
I’m being generous. Outside dollars and population (Melbourne Victory, City and Sydney FC of the past, and Auckland) what has tipped the scales? 4-5 coaches of real quality:
Arnold, Ange, Popovic, Vidmar and Nick Montgomery.
We tried with Uffie to buy a top coach. We were close then and we were close with Ernie too.
Chief has got something a bit different. I think we’re gambling that he might be able to grow into a top manager/coach. Again there’s not much separating teams in this league. A small advantage can make the difference.
It might seem a bit silly looking back, but that’s sport. Somethings you can control and some things you can’t, they just happen.
From the point of the business, he’s got to win over a lot of fans who aren’t convinced again yet at this point.
Or maybe are budgeting for Zootopia II, two more games and paying off the Christmas credit card and so are holding off until the derby and one more game when they’ll get a bit more bang for their buck, depending on who you talk to!
The pure numbers don’t show attitude and loyalty I guess, though I was reading into it, only tickets bought and sold.
