Another article linking Berisha to a return to the A-League - didn't realise his release from Japan had been confirmed.
If we pulled off a signing like him for this upcoming season, I'd be ecstatic. We'd finally have someone who could take penalties!

I would rather put the time into developing Waine and McCowatt than bringing in a 34 yr old striker that hasn't scored in 18 months. He barely played in Japan cuz they didn't like his attitude.
We just have no idea whether those guys are ever going to develop into A-League quality players. I 100% agree with giving them a prominent position in the squad and allowing them to stake a claim, but I'm not convinced we should rely on Ben Waine because he's banging them in against low level opponents in pre-season
I'm not saying Waine or McCowatt are the answer to our goal scoring
problems. I'm saying that Berisha would be a poor signing, so giving them
the playing time will have more upside in the long term than signing him
to be a 3rd choice striker. He looked very much on the decline at the
end of his Victory stint, has barely played in the last 18 months and
will want high wages to sign for someone.
