What I can't accept is the masses saying what a great game it was when it was not. Of the 4 A League games I saw over the last 24 hours, the Phoenix one was by far the worst. We may as well be at an over 35 aftermatch speeches saying 'it was a great game today'. No it was not. Considering they are professional footballers I do have an expectation that for all the set piece and crossing work that we were told was done, the standard of that would have been much better than what we saw. Look at the replay. Don't take my word for it.

JV - your posts are always thoughtful and unlike others you do present reasoned arguments for debate.

Like Jazz./Jazz Jnr I often provide the team my SAF-like observations during the match (pass to Leo, get back Lochhead, on the ground, on the ground etc).  That said, it was an enjoyable game to watch (live) and it felt like we could always get back into the game.

In any round to date there are matches in which both teams play dire football - this is the A-League regardless of how well the players are paid (*cough* CSL - Anelka *cough*).In the context of our recent form this was a GOOD game and a valuable win.

Maybe the standard of the team will determine if we ever win the league, but whatever it is we are still in the mix to qualify for the finals and qualify within the top four....(quick someone anti-jinx this)
