Paston was really nowhere with that free kick. It was way too easy for them to score

Top right corner - how could he have got to that?  Everyone dumps on Pasty but did you not think it was a pretty blimmin good free kick?

Not only top right corner, but up and down over the wall.  Sometimes you just have to congratulate a well struck free kick.  As soon as he didn't dive I knew some people would be knocking him.  I have said it before, but it seems like some would be happy if he just flung himself at it even if he isn't going to get within metres of it.

I told myself I wouldn't get into this again, but I just can't let it stand. That was an absolutely woeful effort from Paston from start to finish. All this was happening right in front of me, and from the way Paston positioned himself where he couldn't even see the ball while standing incredibly flat-footed at the same time before the kick was even taken I had a distinct impression that we were in trouble if the shot was on target. Really, it boggles the mind that a keeper would put himself in that kind of position without ever thinking he may need to move the save the shot if it was on target.
Not to mention that there was nothing top-corner about that shot, and it certainly wasn't travelling at 100 miles per hour - the ball when it crossed the line was about 1 metre away from Paston. If he'd shown just a smidgeon of anticipation or agility, just the very basic goalkeeping skills, he'd have had a very good chance of stopping that. It is absolutely insulting to state that no goalkeeper could have saved that - I'd say the majority of starting goalkeepers in the A-league would have got to that without too many problems, let alone the best keepers in the world. It was absolutely piss poor from Paston - poor positioning, poor awareness, poor anticipation, poor agility, and seemingly no desire. Horrendous.
