I'm still baffled as to why people think the lack of signings is an issue. If this was last year with an impending squad naming date at the end of July it might be a little niggly by now but it's not. The first game isn't until the middle of October. Three months away. That's a lifetime.
EPL starts two months earlier than that and big movement there is just starting to move now yet I don't see any of those clubs supporters deciding they're f**ked.
Listen to Ricki's radio peice the other day and restore you faith CBoz. It's all good.
Oh, and quite why Morrison and the council need to be worried about the lack of signings baffles me (Radio Sport with telfer Monday).
Actually News I was about to come here and say the same thing - people getting angsty over not signing players at this stage is quite frankly ridiculous. It's three months away people!
"OMG there's only 90 more sleeps till the season starts! We're doomed" - please. As far as I can see, as far as the Phoenix go they are making the right moves, saying the right things, getting on with the job of running a football team. I frankly don't give a f*ck if all the other clubs have all their players signed and ready to go - I can't think of too many instances where we have been in direct competition for players and if we have (Hingert etc.), I'm sure an offer was there.
There is almost an infinite number of players we can pick and choose from (there are so many players in the world looking for clubs). "OMG Gold Coast have signed a couple of Dutchys" Well to be honest they don't seem quite on the Sneikder/van der Vaart quality, and if we wanted to, in a month we could go out and sign a couple of similar, no-name Dutchys. If we wanted to.
I actually think it's a good think to take our time building the squad - last year Ward, North and Vukovic were all signings from later on in the year, and they were all (at least meant to be - Mr. North) quality additions to the squad.
In sum, it's fine if people want to get super negative about the future of the Phoenix (not something I like to do - who honestly prefers to be negative to positive?) that's fine, but please don't start on the size of the squad or our recruitment.
