I certainly don't support "Yellow Fever" seeking a meeting with Terry Serepisos, and neither do most, if not all, of your YF moderator colleagues based here in Wellington.
I simply don't believe that Terry will say anything privately that he hasn't been saying publicly for months, especially not to anyone associated with this forum.
It was getting increasingly difficult to know what any of the YF mods in Wgtn thought of the situation as most of their comments on here up to recently had been about tall poppies, and fictional buyers. HN finally came on here towards the end of last week and gave his opinion of the situation and that made things clearer. As JD said at the time, he didn't necessarily agree, but it was good to get some feedback.
With regards to Terry not saying anything to the forum (especially to the forum), he was the guy who rang Smithy a few months ago to discuss the situation. I think he will be open to the meeting, and if he isn't I do not believe it is going to cause a massive problem - see my next point.
Given everything that he has put into the Phoenix so far I also think it is downright rude to effectively say "we don't believe what you're telling us, open your books". I know you will disagree on this point.
So far, from what I have seen, Terry has said very little on the situation apart from the WGA loan. I think that if someone asked for a meeting to discuss the club's situation should this loan not eventuate (which seems very likely at the moment), it is not going to make him burst into tears. He is a big boy who works in a grown up world so I am sure that he will be fine with this.
Also, to other comments on here that previously about disclosing details on the forum from a meeting with Terry that will just end up in the press, nothing specific needs to be posted on here. If Smithy, HN, 2nd Best, Feverish, etc, had a meeting with Terry, where he outlined a plan to maintain the club through the season with proper staff, etc without the WGA loan, that is all they need to post on here. They will know some of the specific detail, but they are honest people who know it is in the best interests of the club to keep this information close to their chests. For the rest of us, knowing that they have genuinely been convinced will be enough information and we can sleep easier about the club's future.
If an individual wants to hit him up with some questions, however, and thinks they can get a meaningful response, then good luck to them. Just don't pretend to be representing all Phoenix fans.
The statement that I "criticise almost everything any journo reporting on the story says as biased, factually incorrect, unimportant" is also an exagerration. I certainly don't appreciate the way Dave Burgess and Matt Nippert have generally reported on this story, but they are both tabloid style hacks who in the UK would be working for red-tops. On the other hand I was recently complimentary about a Terry Serepisos story written by the Dom Post business desk which was balanced, factual and free of "Phoenix are doomed" spin. Long may that continue.
It seems everyone here believes that I am trying to create a witch-hunt against Terry, which is not true. I love Terry for what he did in creating the club and would love for him to be in a position to remain running it, but my first priority is the continuation of the club.
