But the issue is that it didn't bother Tony Warner or Dani Sanchez. But we can just explain them away by saying "they must not be very good".
It won't bother every player, some may see it as a risk well worth taking others less so.
IMO Paul Ifill's good word would have dispelled any doubts Tony may have had. Because of their pre-existing relationship Tony would have had some trust in the Phoenix.
Dani seems all but signed, which is good as continuing to sign players will counter 'doom and gloom' reports other players may get.
