Just a couple of points:

YF doesn't have any members, it's just an internet discussion forum. This isn't a club, there's no constitution, nobody paid a membership fee, there's no committee to sack if you don't like what they're doing. As such, the idea of anyone speaking "on behalf of YF" is nonsense.

There are nowhere near 7,000 active contributors to this forum. The vast majority of registered users have either never made a post or haven't posted for a long time. That means the majority of Phoenix regulars have nothing to do YF.

That said, I greatly appreciate the work the moderators and the self-described "YF executive" do providing this website and the associated YF activities. In no way would I want to restrict their ability to talk to the media and express their own opinion or even pass comment on the general flavour of opinion flowing through this online space. I just think the idea of a "YF spokesperson" is a bit cheeky. Greater clarity about that in the future would be nice but in the grand scheme of things I'm not losing any sleep over it.

If people really think it's worth discussing maybe another thread would be more appropriate?

Many of those that do, shouldn't have?
