EDIT: I'm not saying that The Monkees were a better band than The Beatles just that I believe that they were under-rated, especially for their achievements in other formats.
Junior, are you forgetting that the Monkees also made a feature film - Head? It's quite good actually (4/5 on Amazon.com). What really sets them apart from The Beatles is that they made 58 episodes of their TV series, and even won an Emmy award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 1967.
