Okay, now that the Phoenix are playing attacking football again, I expect to see 15k at the RoF this weekend.
wont happen, half of the city will be taking thier chirstmas holidays, thanks FFA for giving us two home games when Wellington is empty!
no, I like having home games but I'm realistic enough to realise that the population of Wellington drops by 50% over christmas as all the government employees go on holiday - which means that there is less of a chance for the casual fan to come watch the game. We'd be better to have these four home games played over late jan/feb - the FFa realise this I'm sure and schedule the games here to make life difficult. If I'm preoved wrong and the welnix crowd have asked for these games then I'm happy to say they are daft too
There's actually no evidence to support the statement that our crowds are negatively affected by the holidays.
In fact, our average attendance for games played after Christmas and before Jan 15 is 8,756. Even that average is dragged way down by an attendance of 3898 for the game against Perth on 8 Jan 2012 where it was absolutely filthy weather and only 4 days after we had played Sydney at home. Without that game included the average for those games would be 9728 - at least as good as any other time of year.
