Would Matt Thompson be an option for midfield? from what ive heard he is still a free agent

According to soccer stoppage time Dura was in Ernie's ear to bring in Thompson but Ernie is put off by Thompsons advanced age of ... 30

At the right price I think he would be a good player for the team.
