I notice Coveny's name isn't appearing much: are people assuming he will be back next season, or has he retired and I'm the last one to find out? I would've thought that, for all his sterling work this season, the time has come for Covs to hang up the boots. To me he has been a stopgap measure only, and would hopefully be replaced with a younger, more incisive striker next season.
I thought Coveny did alright this season. He was still pretty quick and he got through a power of work. Didn't score many, granted, but did win a few penalties and had a hand in setting some goals up. I think, due to his age, everybody is just assuming that he'll pack it in now.
As Joel Porter was one of the names being bandied around as a signing target, we can assume that we'll be looking at signing at least one striker for the new season.
