I think we have to be realistic. We would all love to have a bigname striker sign for the Phoenix. But you are talking millions of $$$. John Aloisi has just gone to Sydney for over $1 million AUD and he is a player that wouldn't get a look in the EPL. Also he's not the sort of player to win matches single handedly. what do we know about Robbie Elliot????????
How much did Dwight Yorke cost SFC though? can't have been any more than $1 million... If we signed someone with that pedigree at around the same price you would expect the club to get big returns in the form of increased ticket sales, media coverage, sponsorship, and merchandise sales. It is totally worth it, why do you think SFC go after a marquee every season?
