Not at all. Football players (especially those not on top division wages) have a limited professional career, and at 28 Porter is getting into the later part of his. It is perfectly rational to compare different offers to try and get your wages raised by putting pressure on your club. I'd have done the same thing in Porter's shoes and so would you. Anyway, it looks like it's the club who have taken an option to extend his contract, not actually him. He hasn't even done anything if I read the situation correctly, hence why Tony P has come on and said it isn't all over yet. He may still be able to buy out his contract or transfer for an increased fee.
Good points.....maybe we are being a little harsh on Mr Porter.
The facts so far are: Porter has obviously expressed an interest in coming to the Phoenix, Hartepool have evoked a clause in his contract extending his stay by another season and Tony P has said its not all over. We have no idea about what's in Porter's current contract so its difficult for us to comment on Porters legal position.
It may be a simple matter of a player wanting to transfer but just having to work through all the ramifications of the contract system. In the mean time he is being professional and keeping his mouth shut .
