Personally I think he'd still have it on the pitch. I watched the League one playoff last night and I have to be honest it's still a lot higher than the A-League at that level. Some of it may have been the intensity of the games and the fact that those guys play 45-50 matches per year but both Leeds and Carlisle were excellent footballing side that would be very competitivie in the A-League. Andy Cole would still have it there and as such I think he'd go well for the Phoenix, especially with the midfield we have that SHOULD be able to fix him plenty of chances. Plus there is Ronaldunno's point which is completely valid, so long as you can marry the two (on field and off-field a la Dwight York) then I say go for it! All hypothetical and fanciful but that's what the internet is for!
I had the pleasure of watching Glen Hoddle play for Swindon when he was 36. Everyone said the same about him. "He was in the dusk of his career, he was in it for the money, didn't have the legs anymore".
He was absolute class, without a doubt the best "footballer" in the league that season. Anyone of Andy Coles age and experience that still has the desire to play (Teddy Sherringham as opposed to Neil Ruddock) would bring a lot of quality to the team.
I'd love Swindon Town to sign Andy Cole for a year or two (even if he is City scum!).
