Joel Porter was always going to be kept. We have three strikers at the club, Barker, Mackay and Porter. It was fairly obvious we were going to extend his contract by a year and Porter was aware of his contract when he signed it.

Phoenix have no right to be pissed off at Hartlepool. If you want him, buy him. You won't get a freebie from us.

Porter does have a right to be pissed off. He has a right to be pissed off at the fact that he's been unfairly in and out of the side despite playing well.

As I said I want Porter to be happy but I also want Hartlepool to have either a decent strike force or a transfer fee to replace him.

It's all very easy saying "let him join us for nowt" but if the boot was on the other foot would you let your best striker go for nothing?
