McBreen looks a big physical Centre forward type player. He should handle the physical nature of the A-League OK. He's probably more of a target man...a holding player without a lot of pace  who holds up the ball and knocks in the crosses.

How well he fits in depends on the style of play that the Phoenix use. If Daniel, Bertos and Gao can pump in lots of accurate crosses then he could be useful. How him and Smeltz combine is a bit more of a question. They are kind of similar in styles....I kind of thought after last season that Smeltz would profit from a fast nippy frontman to play along side. Having two targetmen up front is a bit one dimensional though Smeltz may like having someone like McBreen beside him to take some of the heat. The problem with having two targetmen up front is there is always the temptation to play the long ball game....which is as exciting as bat shiite!!!!!!

I suspect he may be the no3 striker...sort of a longer term replacement for Coveny who must be in his last year. Tony P hinted that they had TWO strikers to sign...watch this space.
