This season we have a squad of 22 (?) and Christie and Mulligan have hardly seen the light of day and Gao has left so we could have managed with a squad of 20 without any real difficulty. We can also cover long term injuries with ring-ins.
A smaller squad may also help with player morale - fewer players getting little / no game time.
