Apparently they had a 'Gentleman's Agreement' that they can release Aloisi if he got injured/lost form badly. I've heard that he is as good as gone.

I would take him in a heartbeat, even though he has been lacklustre this season. He was great with the Mariners (well, maybe not 'great' but he certainly scored goals) - a player doesn't turn completely crap in the space of a few months.
