He could set himself up well in England in Championship or even EPL if given the opportunity. I have heard the A-League compared to the Championship in terms of quality in the past, so it's not unreasonable that he be spotted... although in saying that, there's not many that have made a leap the england from the HAL.
Smeltz is nowhere near good enough for a mid-top championship side or EPL. He doesn't really have any outstanding qualities - he's a good goal poacher. Like, say, Archie Thompson - he's terrific at A-League level but anything more than that is too much.
If I was him i'd take the Turkey deal. After that is over he can come back to Aussie/NZ and probably still be quite effective as he doesn't rely on pace at all.
