We won't switch to a back three after one game, maybe we never use it at all, but man I wish we would change to something like this.
The only difference in that squad is Sotirio out for Hudson-Wihongi (anyone in for Sotirio is a good move really). We all want Libby and Louis to not have to worry about getting back quite as much as they have to in a back four, and shifting Davila into the middle would mean he wouldn't get lost drifting out wide so often. With the 4-2-2-2 we saw on the weekend it seemed like we had 3 players on each wing at times, with nobody in the middle. It won't happen, but I really want to see us back to a back three
I love this attacking 5-3-2. The problem that many teams have with implementing this formation, is the relative lack of effective RWB's and LWB's compared to almost every other position available. However we have two of the best in the league in those positions (and yes I'm including Fenton here).
As soon as you lose one of the effective wing-backs the formation falls apart though, as we found out when Fenton got injured. WU don't have any LWB's as far as I can see, and teams that can play effectively with width are going to tear them apart down the side the Pain plays on. Even the Nix, being basically ineffective outwide had most of our good play down this side.
