Was skeptical before the game, but if Keegan Smith plays like that for the rest of the season then I'd be happy to call him our best keeper. Far fewer errors than other games and some stunning saves, first time I can't say Italiano would have done better tbh

Keegan Smith did as well (or better) as expected, and was not the worst player on the park.

I have just re-watched the Jets action before their third goal and noticed that Dura was all the way to the left flank, leaving Paracki stranded in a major hole in the middle, where the attack then went through.  They were simply a faster team, and seem to have better passing accuracy than us. We seemed somehow jetlagged (pun intended).

Also, is it just me, or did we often play all ineffectively crowded together in a small area? No control over the wings./ flanks at least not until Parkhouse was brought on.

Jets were pretty good I think, but agree with your comemnt on Paracki being stranded for the second goal.  I posted (rhetorically) during the game, did anyone think Paracki deserved to have a FB and CB behind him.

In hindsight, for me, it's no wonder Paracki looked bewildered and demoralised at the end of the game.

He got exposed by what I think was the attempt to get Finkler into some sort of form ahead of the AWs weekends and for the new coach to see what his quasi marquee player could do.  My guess is Darije is stunned at how ineffective Finkler is and how McG can't do the sort of role that Ridenton's been doing.  The Finkler-McG-Paracki chemistry was a mess compared to McG-Ridenton-Paracki.

I think Paracki also suffered from Mullen's limited ability to get forward and back on the right side.  That left him short of another outlet option and made him more vulnerable to being caught exposed from the right.

---

I just think we've held together pretty well against some good sides with a varying depleted defense, and finally buckled against a weaker side against Brisbane, without either starting CB for any of that game.  But the loss of Galloway, as well, and not having Ridenton working the mid, just tipped the balance too far.  Even with Dura back.  And we broke.

It'll be interesting how Darije looks to adjust.

I still think, with a fit squad, the team can play well, and handle the best.  But probably another tough couple of weeks ahead. A lot of season to go, so hopefully Darije's learnt a few things and we can get clear of the injuries and build again.

(Abbas' problems getting back to defend on the other side is an issue, but we can paper over that if Rossi is there or if we aren't also being too stretched on the right).
