Are we now Wellington Phoenic?

We have had plenty of South American flops, I'm happy to look elsewhere for talent.

The A-League has had some good players come over from the Balkans and they are probably cheaper than players from higher profile countries tbh.

I would agree with that. As a parallel example, not all our Spanish players were consistent game-winners for us either, despite Spain being a high profile country (in football sense).

Regardless of their country of origin, well-known players past their prime are unlikely to come to the Nix. They tend to go to rich, low profile clubs (Middle East, China, etc) where the playing level is middling but payout is very good. We are more likely to be lucky to get a somewhat better than average player who is aware he won't get through to a top club in Europe but who is keen to play regularly in a decent league (and I would argue that on a good day A-League is no worse than the English second tier), possible improve his televised exposure, and who would be really happy to get paid regularly.

Such players may not last long with us (A-Rod, Roly, even Huysegem) but we always hope they will (Rossi).

We are more likely to be lucky if we get a somewhat younger player who is unable to get through to a top club in Europe but who is keen to raise his exposure and who is really happy to get paid regularly.
