People in Aussie are now getting totally sick & tired of these lockdowns. Esp VIC & NSW where they have dragged on for weeks. Luckily in SE QLD, a hard and fast acting 3-5 day lockdown seems to always do the trick (like Auckland earlier this year).

Australia's Hotel MIQ system is failing time and again, with healthy people picking up the virus from Covid infected people in the hotels, then being released into the community after not being detected as positive with their day 12 test. In Aus infected and healthy people can sometimes be neighbours in the hotels, and the Delta strain seems to drift in the air and infect people metres away, hours later. In NZ they either take infected people to a separate hotel in Auckland (Jet Park?), or to a whole separate floor (other NZ city MIQ hotels). Also greatly helps that the army run the NZ system, not so in Aus.

Good news is that Aus Govt has now slashed by 50% arrivals into the stretched MIQ hotel system here. So that should reduce problems. Also vaccinations are going to seriously crank up over the next few months. So come October is going to be improved, but lockdowns will still be a risk. Eventually the state governments will need to make hard decisions, with no more lockdowns and tolerating Covid in the community. That is likely end of this year. There could be riots if lockdowns persist into the Christmas holiday period, and the majority of people being vaccinated say no more.

Re the Nix the NZ Govt's Covid strategy & the Trans Tasman bubble a whole other story.
