Sky UK's latest move of Toon away fixtures.

Just to show that other leagues have fixtures moved at short notice without much thought for the supporter. at least it was done by a broadcaster not the home club, but still offers little comfort to away fans.

Premier League:Everton (a) fallout - moved from Sat 3:00pm 21 April to Mon 8pm 23 April

Complaints to Sky Sports about their decision to move Newcastle's visit to Everton next month from a 3pm Saturday to an 8pm Monday slot resulted in this lazy, patronising, uninformative and misleading reply - it's debatable whether the lackey responsible for sending it even knew the game in question was in the PL:

"I'm sorry that the change of date to Everton v Newcastle has disrupted your travel plans.

"As you can imagine, selecting fixtures is a very complex process with many factors determining what games can and can't be shown. And we work extremely hard to consider the implications for supporters when games are selected for broadcast.

"When it comes to selecting live matches on Sky we've worked closely with the League, football clubs and local authorities for 25 years with the aim of keeping disruptions to a minimum.

"Sky Sports shows 127 Football League (126 Premier League) matches in the current contract and we work with the competition owners to select matches for live coverage within dedicated slots (Friday 7.30pm, Saturday 5.30pm, Sunday 12.00).

"Matches are selected as far in advance as possible but due to the complexity of the football calendar - with several competitions to play - scheduling matches is always subject to change.

"We sympathise for the situation and apologize for the inconvinience (sic) caused."

PS: Another consequence of Sky altering our trip to Goodison at such short notice is disruption to the annual gathering of US-based Magpies, always planned to include watching our game live on TV - with a Saturday 3pm game fitting the bill.

Following previous get-togethers in New York and Dallas, the 2018 event was organised in Chicago and set for April 21st once UK live TV listings were known (the original intended date of April 14th was scrapped when the Arsenal match was moved to the Sunday).

And just as the Everton change to a Monday night created issues of pre-booked transport and hotel accommodation for UK fans (not to mention work commitments) a good number of stateside Toon followers are now in exactly the same situation
