IMO you ar better to get someone like Killen who would fit into the team culture immediately...he would be a "lower risk" recruit.
And you say this based on...
Killen is a current AW....he knows lots of the lads. He knows Rickie and his style of coaching. He is a Wellington boy. Killen could play OK after a week training. Thats what I mean about "low risk" recruit.
If you recruited for example a brillant South american or a Dutchman or what ever there are cultural and possibly language barriers to over come. The guy has to fit into a new city, a new training environment a new team culture a new coach a new style of play etc. There suddenly are more mitigating factors which make the recruitment a "higher risk".
I'm not saying that Killen would tear up the A-League.....just that he would have a higher probability of delivering a positive return for the club
