Is there still that type of overseas (non European?) player exemption, whereby if you play 75% of your country's games in the last 2 years, you can get a UK work permit? Dependent on your country's FIFA ranking? Pijnaker would meet the 75% of AWs games criteria.
Pijnaker is ex Ole alumni & an Aucklander. I seriously doubt he wants to leave Europe yet, for a NZ return.
