I agree with the prof on this, to some extent. We do seem to be constantly going like a yo-yo from elation to despair over our team performance and we are ready to bag it over a - pretty ignominious, granted - run of five games without a win late in the season.
However, this should not detract from the truth that we have a really good stable club, likely to continue to flourish in the new (non-FFA) league model.
I also disagree with those who say that they would not want us to miraculously win the GF from here based on our performance. I would take even a loss in the GF for the excellent outcome this would be, since it would mean we have sorted out the recent malaise and that our season overall was a good one on average.
Melbourne City is a class above right now (who knows how the World Cup would have go on for Australia if Arnold paired Leckie up with McLaren consistently instead of criminally only using McLaren as a sub), but other teams have also shown that the A-League is a good competition attracting European and South American players.
