Yes would be nice to get a fee for a ALW player, rather than yet another leaving on a free. Appreciate it's tricky with the season being so short, and the pay so terrible, making 1 season contracts the norm.

But getting a fee for Fraser shows it's possible. Barry must be the next in line to head off shore. Surprised she signed a 2 year contract last year as it was.

A bit like the men, can see the ALW team definitely evolving into very much a development side, with young girls coming through the Academy. The goal being to sell them to overseas clubs, though again tricky if it's just a succession of 1 year deals. Maybe the odd long term club servant (Rebecca Lake?) who gets time off training etc to help balance a good paying job, with the pitiful ALW wages. I read somewhere she's a chartered accountant

It's in the best interests of the club to try have a small core of older players, who may never be good enough or want to play overseas. I think to make it worthwhile for them you need to be flexible re time off, to allow them to pursue non football career stuff. The coaches can't be precious if they can't make every training, the club ain't paying them enough. Longo another obvious example.
