Whenever I've heard about the plans for a Phoenix W-League team, they've involved it being based across the Tasman due to travel costs for the rest of the league.

Will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Yipe from memory on the Pod a few months back, Dome said a base in Australia had been identified. Sounded a bit like a State NPL club that was happy to help out??  And of course cash strapped CCM doesn't have a W League team.

Any Phoenix women's team then would consist of players, who had some flexibility to move to Australia for a few months, like students. Sounded like they would also be involved with some local coaching etc - but going a bit off memory here.

Certainly plan was to have the team based in Oz, which was more attractive to the W League/FFA.

I remember a few years ago in the QLD NPL, they had the Malaysian U23 team in the league. So not a completely strange idea in Oz football.
