Oh that sucks. Hope she heals quickly and comes back stronger.
The ACL issue is pretty chronic ay. Hope this is investigated heavily.

What’s to investigate?
It’s a common injury in women sports due to females wider hips resulting in more strain on knees.
Unlucky and extremely gutting but comes with the territory.
I agree theres's probably not a lot to investigate, although there is also a lot to understand and learn about the defferences between the men and women and how to modify training sesssions to avoid the barrage of ACL injuries across women's football at the moment. Maybe study is the better word - instead of investigate.
Whilst not specific to this case or the noteable differences between men/women & respective instances of ACL injury, I'd guess that 99% of players in NZ playing on Artificial Grass are using the wrong boot type which "may" be a factor in either sudden injuries or maybe longer term damage to joints?
In my observation, in NZ most retailers sell & players use Firm Ground (FG) boots on Artificial Grass whereas boot manufacturers do make specific Artificial Grass (AG)boots with a completely different stud design/layout to distribute weight over a larger area, reduce friction, foot "getting stuck" when changing direction etc
Most manufacturers say FG boots should not be worn on AG (for some it invalidates any warranty) & maybe for young players playing multiple sessions over multiple years (through their physical developing years) with the wrong footwear may have an influence on joint stability/wear in later years? ....or....the differences between FG & AG boots could just be manufacturers blurb to sell more boots..No idea
