Would have been nice to have some of the older experienced NWL given a look at rather than just Ffdp, I get this is suppose to be a pathway however it can be detrimental for equally talented players missing out and have quality. Takeda, Fraser, Robertson, Nicholson, Lake, Ward, Bacon,Hiraro to name a few

Big ask for people to up sticks and leave their families & jobs for 3 months. These contracts don't really pay much. Much easier for the younger players.
Yeah, being away from home in Australia for some months would have ruled out some of the older players in the NWL such as Annalie Longo who has two school age daughters and a job as Women's Development Officer with NZ Football.
Longo hadn't re-signed with Melbourne Victory although they probably wanted her back as she was an important player for them in winning the league.
So she'd probably already decided she'd rather spend Xmas and summer holidays with her daughters in Canterbury and working for NZ Football (she's working for NZ Football from her home base in Kaiapoi).

Longo has had ongoing injury issues for a couple of years and carried one into the Olympics which meant she played no part. Given the rigours of the professional game and the looming midfield talent she’s probably considering retirement and focusing on her NZF development role.
Not true.
Annalie is playing for the Pride in the NWL this summer and at age 30 is most likely looking forward to the home World Cup in 20 months.
Annalie taking part in Pride media day this week:

She did play in the Olympics in July but just one appearance as a sub vs. USA, so may well have been unfit then.
She played in 11 of Victory's 14 matches last W-League season in winning the title.
Started and played 109 minutes in the W-League Final against Sydney FC in April.

I’d say there will be a clean out of the older Ferns ahead of the WC.
Noises JK is making and given the style she wants to play it will more suited to the younger up and comers v  the 30+
