With Smithy away, the pod drafts in Wellington Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick to chat preseason, trialists and recruitment. Elsewhere, New Zealand Football CEO Grant McKavanagh hands in his resignation, and Frank van Hattum chats about Wellington being granted the opportunity for another shot for glory. Locally, the last Chatham Cup quarter finalist is found, and Johnathon Gould debuts for Waterside Karori in the Capital Premier League.

With Phoenix news going suspiciously quiet in recent weeks, the pod turns their attention to the U20s at the World Cup and question whether we expect too much from our youth sides. While locally, the quarter finalists in the Chatham Cup are almost confirmed, but will the Cavvy Curse or the Lower Hutt luck continue.
