Indeed.  Well done your lot.  Reading are looking very good - and should go up in one of the automatic spots.

Quote from Reading fan on Burnley Board "Thought you were far and away the best side we have seen a the MadStad this season. You passed well, looked good going forward and tried to stifle our play. Was nice to see another team play football for a change."  So we can take a little bit of heart from that.  Although our defence is dodgy at the best of times.

It doesn't get much easier though - next up Birmingham for the Clarets!

What's happening to Wolves & QPR?  Short term loss of form, or are they being found out?

The catalyst seems to be Noel Hunt, Stephen's brother who has the same never-say-die approach as wel.

They were on Soccer AM the other week.

"Noel Hunt, Better looking that his brother"

Did you catch that? The video player is not working so i cant post the link at the moment...

Actually just looked at the match stats.  Bloody hell. Swansea won 17 corners to 1.  Had thirteen shots on goal (4 on target), while QPR's solitary shot was not even on target.  QPR did win the bookings though ......   6-0!
Be thankful for 0-0 I say!

And the one shot we had was in injury time! I noticed Parejo & ledesma were spared running around on a coal field. Saving them for the Man U. game where their true quality will shine.

I wont even mention Swansea were down to 10 men after 26 minutes.

Redemption, we nick a draw at Reading and then turn over Birmingham City at Loftus Road.

And indeed that's what happened (hang on, that was just crafty editing).  Well done.  Keeps it tighter at the top ... although Wolves & Brum still have a 5 point gap on the rest of the pack.

At Ipswich this weekend for your lot.  That should be easy (cue banstick threat).

On the other hand we (Burnley) have Norwich at home.  Now that should be really farken easy (cue reinstatement).

Andy Cole's quit Forrest. Sounds like it was mutual as he hadn't scored since his move there in June. I wonder if that's the end of his career?

I can't get over how Charlton have really gone to pieces this season. After the Dubai royal family called off their interest they've not been able to buy a win. They really need some quality strike power, another hard midfielder to compliment Bailey and some better central defenders - that aint going to happen though in Jan with a 20mill debt.

Oh to be minted like QPR.

WTF, we apparently should have been 2-0 up and we lost 2-0. Even one of their goals was a header that then rebounded off two other players before going in.

Sounds like your lot were quite jammy lucky, but still, we all need wins like that from time to time. This report is from Soccernet.com. When I read on Friday that Woolmer was reffing the match I feared the worst and he delivered.

Burnley enjoyed another profitable outing in west London as super-sub Alan Mahon secured a 2-1 victory over QPR in their Coca-Cola Championship clash at Loftus Road.

Just three days after their memorable Carling Cup penalty shoot-out success at Chelsea, the Clarets again showed their liking for life in the capital with a valuable win over their play-off rivals.

Owen Coyle's men had stayed on in London following their heroics at Stamford Bridge, and now head back to Lancashire with a quarter-final against Arsenal to look forward to and another three points towards their promotion bid.

Dexter Blackstock had fired Rangers ahead early on, but Robbie Blake replied against the run of play before half-time and Mahon thumped the winner just three minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute.

The hosts, who were themselves given a taste of life in the Premier League when they went down 1-0 at Manchester United in the Carling Cup, took the lead in the 14th minute.

Winger Lee Cook toyed with former Rangers defender Clarke Carlisle before cutting the ball back to Blackstock, who curled a fine effort past Brian Jensen into the far corner.

Jensen then had to tip a Damion Stewart header over the crossbar and Cook blasted a volley high and wide with Burnley on the ropes.

But Rangers could not find the crucial second goal and Burnley equalised with their first meaningful attack 11 minutes before the interval.

Blake collected Joey Gudjonsson's incisive pass on the edge of the area, brought the ball onto his left foot and lashed a powerful drive past Radek Cerny.

After the break, Chris Eagles fired wide and Wade Elliott shot straight at Cerny before, at the other end, Rangers were denied what appeared a clear penalty by referee Keith Woolmer.

Blackstock raced into the area and was sent tumbling by Carlisle, the last defender, in front of goal but Woolmer waved away the hosts' appeals.

Jensen then beat out Samuel Di Carmine's shot before Burnley were dealt a blow when Eagles had to be stretchered off.

But it was his replacement, Mahon, who proved to be the match-winner with a superb strike on the hour.

Blake's cross from the right took a couple of deflections on its way through to Mahon, who was lurking on the other side of the area and buried a first-time shot back past Cerny.

Blake also hit the bar with an angled drive, while Blackstock headed over from Peter Ramage's cross as Rangers looked for an equaliser, and Jensen tipped Patrick Agyemang's header over the top in stoppage time.

PS: Watch out for Carlisle when he gets on the bottle. It was his drinking that caused his trouble when at QPR. Showing up to training and a few games smelling of alcohol.

PPS: HN - Could you change the heading under my Avatar to: "Doncaster 2 Ipswich 0" please??

Despite dodgy decisions, it appears that you merely got what you deserved LG.  From a report on QPR-based' website (see http://www.qpr.vitalfootball.co.uk/matchrep.asp?a=132102)

... "Rangers were left frustrated by referee Mr Woolmer, as he denied Rangers what seemed two cast-iron penalties in the second period, but in fairness to the visitors a draw would not have done justice to a gifted Burnley display" ...  "Rangers well beaten, but had they got the right decisions in terms of penalties it may have turned the game in their favour, nevertheless Burnley were good value for the win to round off a memorable week for the play-off contending Clarets."

And best not to mention Doncaster.  D'oh!

You got the type of win, we grabbed the week before. It's an interesting championship this year, Wolves will fold, Birmingham will get promoted.

I hope you turn over Arsenal and they're up there for the taking too, but I bet Wenger pulls off some miracle at Turfmore.

3-0 to the Burn-a-ley.
Back on track, back in 4th.
Life is beautiful this weekend!!! (apart from the sordid fact that I couldn't make the game on Friday night - only the prematch drinks!  Still gutted)

HN, your Tractor boys were dangerously close to play-off zone. Late penalty denying you. Probably dodgy. Would have liked to have seen the gay blades toppled.

LGM, I read that your super-hoops have now gone 662 minutes without scoring an away goal. Oh dear!  What you need is a wealthy owner.  Hang on?

Hi Guys

Long time no speak, I watched the Wolves vs Birmingham game on sopcast saturday night, it was a corker especially the last 10 mins, complete end to end stuff.

Have to say that after watching the highlights of all championship games this year, its a 3 horse race for the 2 automatic spots. I think injuries could decide it myself. All 3 clubs I think will invest heavily in the jan transfer window, so no one has the advantage there.

Well perhaps he should have gone on loan to the Valley afterall, that sort of thing is a requirement for our strikers .

At Charlton we're so deep into a relegation battle and I'm considering restarting the 'life's not fair thread' for other supporters of the managerless and feckless football clubs to partake in some black humour.

Wolves/Brum/Reading I assume?

I'd of course like to think that one other horse could get in amongst it.  Burnley would need to overcome its traditional mid-winter slump syndrome.  A problem that I understand is not foreign to Wolves.  No sign of the fat lady just yet!
