Had no business taking a shot like that from that range but it paid off. The man really is a legend.  Seems unlikely he'll make it to 100 premier league goals but it's worth trying.  He must be hovering around 70 by now.

You mean unlikely he’ll get there by the end of the season…?

Currently 66 Premier League goals, age 32.

Forest playing like a shark with a taste for blood. Who knows? Just got to play each game at a time.

Any striker is taking a pot shot at that with the GK way out of position.  Quality finish, but he has every right to take that on.

I thought his EPL days maybe over given his struggles at the start of this season. But what a revelation he has been since Nuno arrived at Forest. A coach who firmly believes in him, and seems to have setup the attack to get the best out of the Woodsman. Also does help that is  Awoniyi  injured so Wood knows as long as he's fit he's the main striker.

Career best form? Eight goals in his last nine EPL games!
He did have a 14 goal (32 games, 29 starts) season at Burnley (2019/20). This season is 11 goals from 24 games (only 13 starts!).

Forest won 3-1, and go 3 clear of Luton (game in hand). Luton with tough away fixtures at Arsenal & Man City coming up.

That photo with Gibbs-White is about right. It’s been his delivery that Wood has been feasting on. When no one passes to you it’s difficult to score.

Hudson-Odoi a classic example. He only passes when he can’t run anymore. The only thing he’s thinking about is cutting back on to his right foot and shooting. He’s certainly very rarely got his head up and watching others movements. That first goal a classic example.

Exactly what happened at Newcastle. He would make good runs only for someone to make a selfish dribble or long range shot instead of feeding him.

He also gets a positive mention in Football 365's Winners and Losers column:

Chris Wood
We all know Chris Wood’s attributes by now, the sort of striker he’s supposed to be. And that sort of striker absolutely is not ‘smack it in from 30 yards for a third goal in three games’. Tremendous stuff from the New Zealander.

And he misses a tap in by absolutely blasting it at the post from two metres, following in on a Vicario save from a Yates shot (I think). Busy half! Half time 1-1.

Spurs do Spurs things with a couple of brilliant goals.
Wood and Gibbs-White are dragged for Dominguez (who I rate) and Origi (who don’t much- he seems out of condition at best).

4 in 4 is huge for the Woodsman, great time for him to be hitting form for the club.
If Forest get relegated he might find himself on the move again?

Has he ever won a player of the month award.

Not a flashy player, or a young upstart who the judges seem to love, but 4 in 4 for a relegation threatened side is more impressive that say 6 in four games for Man City IMO.

So Wood & Gibbs-White both off at 68 mins at 3-1 Spurs, and it finishes that way.

Couple big games coming up for Forest (17th, edging Luton on GD). Hosting Wolves (11th) and then away at Everton (15th). You'd still back Forest to stay up, but Luton beating Bournemouth keeps the pressure on.

If he continues in this form, and even if Forest survive, you'd think he's shown that he's good enough for a move.  I think a consistently upper mid table team (i.e. one hovering around 7th) is where he could thrive - as long as he has good midfielders behind him and a coach that backs him he will continue doing well.

If Forest can stay up and retain key players, they’re potentially good enough to be that too.

Just relistening to last year's B2B podcast with the Woodsman.

He's getting married in the UK, 17th June this year. I'm guessing that rules him out of the OFC Nations Cup (15th to 30th June). Unless the new Mrs Wood, is open to overlapping their honeymoon with a football tourney in beautiful Vanuatu.

In his fiancée's wedding planning defence, NZF only announced the AWs were playing in the Nations Cup a few months ago. Bit of symmetry, given of course he missed the last Nations Cup final (PNG) in 2016, for his sister's wedding in NZ.

Forest (17th, 25 pts) host Wolves (11th).

The other relegation contenders, Luton (25 pts) away to Man City, and Everton (27 pts) away to Chelsea have tougher games. So Forest with a win can get some breathing space

Woodsman starts alongside Reyna & Hudson-Odoi. Elanga out injured.
21 yr old American Reyna sounds like a bit of a rising star, and likely part of the US Olympics team.

Pity Elanga is out. Direct, pacey and passes to Wood.

Reyna establishes himself as another young guy who doesn’t pass to the striker when he can have a pop himself…

Good half for Wood though. Forest constantly on attack, but not finding shots or passes. Wolves nicked one against the run of play. Forest then spent several corners with Wood hassling Saar and Gomes and finally up pops Gibbs-White with a headed equaliser.

All equal at half time. Gibbs-White is ex-Wolves and went and celebrated in front of the away fans, kissing or almost chewing the Forest badge! Interesting subtext in a spicy game.

Hopefully the Woodsman can pinch a winner early on in the second half.

Finishes 2-2. Full game Woodsman.
Luton predictably spanked at Man City, so Forest inch a point ahead.

But Luton agruably have the 'easier' last 5 games.

Forest play Everton (next week), Sheffield U & Burnley (last game) but they are all away fixtures.

Origi's late whipped in cross too far in front of Wood, who had an open goal to be the hero.

A big one. Forest (16th, 27 pts) travel to Everton (17th, 26 pts).
Woodsman up against old gaffer Dyche, and no doubt ex Claret team mate Tarkowski will try be all over him.

Based on yesterday's results it maybe Burnley (4-1 winners away) that Forest now have to worry about & not Luton (1-5 losers at home), in the relegtaion scrap.

I'd really like to see Chris there scoring for fun but in the end it's probably better to give guys like Waine who have played a lot less football a chance to prove they can do something in a black/white shirt. Same goes for Barbs, OVH (can see him getting called up) and Rojas (if fit by then).
