Every kiwi footballer I have talked to appreciates Chris Wood, quite a few have him in their fantasy teams, so I reckon his profile is pretty good.

mostly over 40,s social fottballers. All good must be just my experience with quite a few that i end up trying to justify what he has achieved.

Agree he does generaly have a great profile for good reason.

No Wood, no Barnes, only about 41% possession but Burnley with a 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

Goals J-Rod (PG), Vydra and McNeil.

Im well over 40, I think he is one of the greatest NZ players ever and he still has a few years in him yet.

Recovered enough from his hammy twinge, to make bench for trip to St James Park.

J-Rod and Vydra to start up front for Burnley.

Subbed on for Vydra at 58 min mark, in a 0-0 draw.

Typical Dyche only sub he made.

Burnley (9th & 38 pts) stay in Europa League contention for now, with 10 games to go.

Next Spurs at Turf Moor.

Back in the starting lineup as Burnley host Spurs.

Up front with Rodriguez. Vydra to the bench.

Good to see Dyche start with 2 strikers re playing one of the 'bigger' clubs.

13' GOAL!!! Burnley get their deserved lead! Rodriguez's fierce strike is parried into the feet of Wood, who slots home. 1-0

His 11th EPL goal this season

Poacher's goal. Looks like all Burnley, the first 20-30 mins.

Finishes 1-1. Alli a PG for Spurs.

Full game for the Woodsman. J-Rod substituted for Vydra at 68 mins.

From Flying Kiwis.

Chris Wood, a less cherubic Michael Owen and a wooden horse jockey simulator. Sans Alan Shearer.

jesus some of you are fudgeing miserable. Yes he's not a World Cup, Puskas Award-winning striker, but who is? He's a similar player, and would be a good pickup as Arsenal don't have a pure finisher or any aerial presence. Nobody's expecting him to come in and lead the line or be as good as Giroud, because he won't be, but the way you lot are talking he'd struggle to get into League One like he hasn't scored double digit goals in his last three EPL seasons and isn't leading a top-half team in scoring. Sick of people undermining him

To just focus on that Monsieur Giroud is somehow being disrespected, is dumb.

If some football hack (with a tenuous Arsenal link - great grand father was a Gunner), wants to push the Woodsman into that company, a nice little honour for our Kiwi boy.

He's doing great in the EPL, by the standards of NZ football, brilliant even. Should have been NZ Sportsman of the 2019.

Hopefully gets a well earned nomination at the end of 2020.

Interesting interview with Chris about growing up in NZ playing football and his journey to England.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8ltchbhCOs

- Bullied at a young age into playing rugby

- Made his debut for Cambridge FC at age 14 on $100 a goal

- Laid back kiwi attitude helped him settle into England without realising it

- Playing for Birmingham whilst in the Championship and Europa League!

-  Amongst other things!

From this week's Flying Kiwis.

"Chris Wood’s just keeping himself busy. There are so many competing factions with the Premier League from the simple ones of players and fans to the more complicated issues of sponsors and broadcasters and owners and league officials... all of which is making it hard to come to some kind of consensus about where to go with this. They’ll resume the Premier League eventually because it’s too costly not to but expect plenty more debate before then.

Things are slowly moving forwards though. Teams are close to returning to full contact training and are already in limited training with two rounds of mass testing undertaken. They’re apparently hoping for a late-June resumption, probably with neutral venues. Woody’s Burnley currently sit tenth on the ladder with nine more matches remaining. They’re four points off the European spots and 12 points clear of the relegation zone."

From this week's Flying Kiws. Hopefully nothing serious,

"Sean Dyche: “Barnesy it still not quite right yet and Woody has a bit of a problem with his Achilles. We are waiting for more news on that. We are a bit more hopeful on Barnesy that it’s settling down, so hopefully he’ll get back into some form of training over the next week or so. We’re not sure on Woody yet. He’s going to have to take his time on that and see how that settles down. That wouldn’t be helpful if those two aren’t right but it’s an ongoing thing and we will wait on them.”

Just something to keep an eye on. Games will be coming thick and fast once the Premier League returns next month as they try to wrap everything up swiftly and with five subs available the teams that handle things best will be the ones with the deep squads... which Burnley are certainly not. Sean Dyche isn’t averse to using zero subs so it’ll be tough for them, especially if some of their top dudes are still carrying injuries.

Burnley are sitting tenth on the ladder with nine games left. Only nine points off fourth and four off sixth so if they can get a roll on then there’s plenty to be gained over those nine games. Chris Wood has scored 11 goals in 26 games so far to be tied for 11th on the Golden Boot standings alongside the likes of Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, and Anthony Martial. He’s also seven flags clear at the top of the total offsides list too with 31 of those bad boys. He dominated that one last year with 53 offsides, finishing fifteen clear of Glenn Murray in second. Keep getting those flags, son.

Up Next: Burnley’s first game back is away to Man City on 23 July at 7am (NZT)"
