Subbed off (replaced by Vydra) at 65 mins when Burnley were 1-0 down at Anfield.

Rodriguez with the equaliser shortly after at 69 mins, in a 1-1 draw. Typical Burnley goal.

They almost snatch a win late with sub Guðmundsson hitting the cross bar.

In these highlights, Woodsman doesn't feature at all.

Burnley 9th with 3 games left. Euro chances pretty much over, but a solid mid table finish likely.

Wolves (H), Norwich (A) & Brighton (H) finish to the season.

Converts pen in 96th minute to salvage a 1-1 draw.

His 11th EPL goal of the season, after scoring 10 league goals both of his previous 2 seasons at Burnley. PB

"Chris Wood fired into the top corner following a Matt Doherty handball, moments after heading wide of an open goal.

Raul Jimenez had put Wolves ahead with a superb volley from the edge of the box."

Clarets stay 9th.

Norwich down to 9 players in first half stoppage time, made worse by Wood scoring an overhead kick shortly before halftime. 0 - 1 Burnley.

Unfortunately no more goals for the Woodsman (12 EPL strikes for the season now). He was subbed at 79 mins for Vydra, as the 9 man Canaries, only conceded an OG in the 2nd half, with Burnley winning 2-0.

Last game at home to Brighton. A hat trick past Matt Ryan, and 15 for the season would be nice.

He's 16th on EPL's goal scoring charts for the season at the moment.

It always amazes me how Wood has such a small profile in NZ. In any other country in the world having a striker playing and scoring regularly in the EPL would make them a national sporting hero. Even Australia where football is hardly the main code really got behind their footballers when they did well. Kewell, Viduka and especially Cahill were prominent high profile sportsmen in OZ.

Is it kiwi apathy? Or is the egg ball dominated sports media that paranoid about football.

Needs NZF to nominate him for Sportsman of the Year.

Read somewhere they never have to date, which if true is poor.

He was nominated for the 2017 awards (after he had his best Championship season at Leeds United and started his first season at Burnley in the Premier League).

The judging criteria for the Halberg Awards make it unlikely he will ever win, as they value World Championships/Cups etc and performances at them above all else.

He hasn't been nominated the past two years.

yep gutting,  based upon both the sport and the level he is playing, along with his performance he is at least at the level if not better then a certain basketballer called Adams

How hard is it NZ football to nominate?

Hang your head in shame.

13* strikes for the season. It also gives Wood Burnley's EPL single-season scoring record. (Danny Ings and Ashley Barnes both had 12).

Despite Wood's 44th min goal Burnley go down 1-2. Lovely first touch before slicing it home.

He also had a header blocked on the line in the 2nd half, and VAR ruled out a Rodriguez goal.

Clarets finish 10th.

Wood's best season yet with 14 goals, from 32 games (29 starts).

A guy in his prime, but by November it will be 3 years since he played a football game in NZ. And that was 20 minutes off the bench!! Stuff's lead morning sports article is of course about SBW and a NRL return.

Guessing the goal at The Theatre of Dreams in front of 75,000 back in January, was his favourite for the season.

Season 19/20 done! What a season it’s been by this team!! Personally extremely happy with 14PL goals this season. We go again soon and try and go even better ?? See you all soon!!

I really hope the All Whites start to pick up a bunch more games once carona blows through. Would be nice to Wood in his prime, although it is always exciting to see how much a player has improved when you only get to see them play once every two years.

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/nz-teams/122378286/ryan-nelsen-heaps-praise-on-chris-woods-epl-success

"[Wood] is worth £25-30 million now," said Nelsen.

"It's $NZ50 million Kiwi to just have a talk to him. [Strikers] don't grow on trees; you need to pay a sh*t ton for that type of output, and I don't think he gets the credit he probably deserves from the New Zealand football public."

Well said Nellie. His thoughts that we may not see another Kiwi scoring goals in a big league regularly in our lifetimes (depending on how old you are!), on the money.

Back to that Halberg discussion, to me NZF need to nominate Wood every year he is scoring goals in the EPL.

Yeah he may never win the award (judging criteria being what it is), but nominating him every year he's doing what he's doing now, would be an annual statement/reminder, that ours is the World Game and for a Kiwi to be doing what he is doing in maybe the world's top league deserves far more kudos.

See Vicelich is on the Voting Academy. Fred Woodcock also.

https://www.halbergawards.co.nz/about/voting-academy/

In many similar sized countries in the world Wood would be a superstar. In China or India he would be demigod, his image plastered everywhere. If he was a native of pretty much any Asian country he'd have a huge profile.

Man that would be a shock move.

But UCL football, and a lifestyle in The Eternal City. Temptations to mull over.

Ryan Nelsen last week recommended he's now worth £25-30 Million.

Let's also not forget that Lazio management aren't new to boasting new signings which never actually take place. They've done well this season but I doubt they'll be able to afford him

If you're Burnley are you selling high on Woody though? Can you replace him for 30m quid/do Burnley need money badly?

If I'm Burnley I'm looking to keep him unless someone makes a good offer but I think 30m might be asking over the odds, especially given current situation

Trust me Rome ain't as flash as many believe. Traffic, pollution, rubbish that gets picked up once a month, rats as big as wallabies, crime, red tape and corruption everywhere.
Though life as a professional football ain't that bad since you're idolised by either three quarters (Roma) or one quarter (Lazio) of the population and get treated like royalty..
