A 1-1 draw verus Roda JC. No minutes for Rojas

Some first team minutes at last for Rojas. Subbed on at 78 mins versus PSV.

Heerenveen were down 2-1, at that stage. Finishes 2-2. Top of the table PSV had player sent off at 45 mins when leading 2-0.

Bizarrely made the match high number of tackles with 5 as well. Can't tell a lot from stats but it appears he may have played reasonably well, hopefully is able to kick on with a bit more game time.

I’m going to Heerenveen vs FC Utrecht next weekend so I’m hoping Marco’s recent run of game time continues. Haven’t read up on how he went today though.

I didn’t end up going. The forecast was for snow and I couldn’t really risk being stuck in a city where I don’t know anyone. Good decision in the end, but more because of the result and Marco not playing. It didn’t snow a lot. If he starts to get more game time, which isn’t looking that likely, I’ll try get to another game.

Is it silly that I'm still holding out hope that if he fails in Europe again he will come back to the Nix as a marquee? I know he has frequent contact with the club and I'm pretty sure I remember hearing he had a meeting with Dome before the season, but other then that I have nothing else to go on really

If he comes back to the AL, he will be at the Victory.

Subbed after 80 mins, as Heerenveen win 2-0. Was same score when Rojas was subbed just after their 2nd goal.

Hopefully he did enough to finish the season as a starter.

Personally I'd like to see him in Mexico. Tigres were interested (best team in the country, have French internationals Gignac and Kolodziejczak, as well as former EPL players Enner Valencia and Eduardo Vargas) back before he signed to Heerenveen, and the play style couldn't suit him better.

Tons of players who haven't had the mindset to work in European football, like Keisuke Honda and Ravel Morrison, are doing great in Mexico right now

had no idea Tigres were keen, that would've been perfect for him. I think overall I'm still glad he went to Heerenveen though, he needed to give Europe another crack. There's no doubt he has the skill to be successful there, its just like everyone says, its about his mindset and drive

Nice work Marco. The utlimate confidence player??

Heerenveen leapfrog Zwolle (now 8th having played 1 more game than most teams) into 6th on the table, and Rojas goes ahead of Thomas for Eredivisie goals this season.

Heerenveen lose to Feyenoord 2-3. The winner was late at 90 mins.

Rojas started and was subbed after 64 mins, when Heerenveen were 0-2 down. They came back to level, but conceded the late 3rd goal.

Heerenveen finish season in 8th one above Zwolle.

They go into a 2 game playoff series now verus Utrecht, to find last Dutch teams for Europa League.

Rojas played 20 games but only 7 were starts. Did finish season as a starter. Scored 3 goals.

He maybe keen for India, given his Dutch season workload not heavy.

Before Matt Ridenton, this guy bounced from the Nix to an Oztraylian A League club, and then onto ‘bigger’ things.

Heerenveen beat Utrecht 4-3 in first home leg of Europa League qualifying series.

Plenty of goals there for Top Left to enjoy.

Rojas subbed on at 72 mins with game 3-3.

Utrecht with only 10 men after send off at 51 mins. Was only 1-1 at that point - so they may feel the happier of the 2 teams going home for 2nd game with 3 away goals.

Hell of a game. Utrecht are way off what they should be with the players on their roster, a bit like Zwolle the results have been fairly bad in the second half of the season (Ajax took their manager at Xmas as well), they often switch off or don’t don’t switch on for long periods before deciding they have to show some fight - which is what happened today. Down 3-0 before they started playing and got a goal back before Ayoub was sent off for a second yellow (dissent - sarcastic thumbs up to the ref after his first yellow). Surprisingly they came back from there, showed a lot of urgency to get back to 3-3 before conceding again in the 86th minute. Hopefully the return leg is as exciting back at FC Utrecht. Not much to report on Marco (too many beers by the time he came on) but hopefully he gets a start. Real problems at FCU with the new manager Jean Paul de Jong seemingly losing the dressing room while two of the best players Ayoub (Feyenoord) and Labyad (Ajax) being signed by bigger clubs recently. Think Hereveen can win with all this considered but really depends if they FCU players feel motivated or not.

Cheers Topleft, hopefully Heeerenveen can pull it off and Rojas gets some Euro action next season.

Sounds like the bigger Dutch clubs, just cannibalise best players from the smaller clubs. Be interesting where Thomas ends up.

Hereveen lose the second leg 1-2 and the tie on away goals. Marco came on for the last 30 and sparked a comeback from 0-2 down and scored. He was quality. They’ll be gutted they gave up the 3 goal lead at home. I spoke to Marco before the game, nice guy. He’s had a good end to the season which should bode well for his remaining year and option for another, will be interesting if that could be extended before next season.

Here's his goal. The Hobbit, loves those low headers that many players would try score with their foot.

Yes those conceding away goals in first leg, to a 10 man Utrecht bit Heerenveen in the bum.

Hopefully Rojas can become a regular starter next season.

Available for trip to India?

His chances should be a lot better as the team loaned Real Madrid wonder kid Odegaard (plays on the wing) who leaves as the end of the season.

If he doesn't crack on this season then I honestly think he should come back to the A-League. Probably with Victory, but I'd love to see him back in Nix colours at some stage. He's an absolute star at this level, way more exciting to me than Honda. I don't even care if he scores a hatty against us, I just want to see him carve it up every week again.

There's plenty of other leagues in Europe not as good as the eridivse that he could thrive in. I think 2nd division of spain or france could be a good one.

For mine, if he can't make it in the Eredivisie, he will struggle anywhere in Europe that is at a good level. The Eredivisie is basically tailor made for smaller, trickier, younger players to flourish.

I think his injury when he first went to Germany really hampered him, and I also think that he perhaps is just simply too small to really succeed consistently. Ryan Thomas is considered small too, but he's a beast compared to Marco. You need to be exceptionally good to overcome that limitation, and I don't think Marco is quite at that level.

Kosta has found his level in the A-League, and I think Rojas level is similar. Rojas needs consistent game time and he hasn't got it since the Vuc.
