David Farrington*

I reckon Reuben Way gets some mileage out of that match on the Melbourne social scene.

If Bayern wins the title, will Singh get a medal? I know in the EPL you have to play in at least five different games to be eligible for one. Anybody know the Bundesliga requirements can't seem to find any information on it?

For those who have sky the game is on the bein sports connect platform and will be there for the next 6 days or so.

Very interesting comments from the commentators when he comes on. Apparently he is indian australian.

I'd missed that. The commentator who mentions the A-League is one Thomas Broich.

You probably won't get such mistakes from beIN Sports commentator Lutz Pfannenstiel, another German who has played Down Under, the legendary former goalkeeper who is the only man to have played professionally in all six continental associations (27 clubs).

Lutz played for Dunedin Tech and for Otago United in our national league and so knows NZ well..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lutz_Pfannenstiel

He was co-commentator for the Bayern-Freiburg game this week on beIN Sports.

He's also a journalist for the BBC, CNN, German TV etc., and a  director of Fortuna Dusseldorf.

At the height of his career he made 12 first team appearances for then English Premier League side Wimbledon.

Had two seasons as reserve keeper at Nottingham forest in the Premier League too.

Bayern leave it late. Goals at 85 and 89 mins. Zirkzee and Gnabry again.

Singh an unused sub. Still insane really that he is even on the pine, in front of 75,000.

Zirkzee the teenager comes on in 83rd minute and scores there opening goal in 85th minute.

Thats two goals off the bench for him now in last two games. Pretty hard to do better than that. Singh with outstanding competition on the bench. But I guess that is what you would expect at Bayern.

They have a lot of injured/suspended midfielders so I suspect Singh will drop back down to the reserves soon. I hope he can keep his place on the bench though.

Bayern don’t play again until late Jan, so yes that maybe it, as far as match day squads go with the first team.

BM II play tomorrow in Munich, in their own last match before winter break so wouldn’t surprise if he played for them.

BM II have fallen away a bit of late, to be only 2 points off the drop zone.

I'm sure the club, would much rather have their young players like Singh playing at as high a level as possible for their development ie Liga 3 where there are some bigger historical German clubs like 1860 MünchenDusiburg, KaiserslauternWaldhof Mannheim  - rather than down in the 4th tier, which has nearly 100 clubs spread over 5 regional divisions (pub football).

Starting for BM II (15th) with with recent first team goal scoring hero Zirkzee, against Würzburger Kickers (13th) in Liga 3.

Not great news. Straight red for Sarpreet.

Finishes 1-1. BM II with a goal at 80 mins, but Kickers reply straight back at 82 mins.

BM II finish the year 15th, 3 points off the relegation zone.

Liga 3 resumes 25th Jan, a week after Bundesliga.

Sounds like Singh got a straight red, after a tackle. Maybe niggled beforehand by some older head(s) in Kickers's side??

With no games to prepare for awhile, imagine Bayern coaching staff will be giving some feedback to Singh this week re workons etc. Plus a little dressing down re the red card.

Read somewhere, that Singh was hoping to be able to fly to NZ for Christmas - would be pretty cool if he was at CCM game 4th Jan.

But also that Bayern do have a training camp also in the Middle East, that he will probably have to attend. They have a friendly verus Nurnberg (Bundesliga 2) on 11th Jan.

Watched the game, the refereeing was horrific throughout and far too harsh. Earlier in the first for example, the ref gave a yellow for shoulder to shoulder contact in which both players went down.

Singh didn’t deserve a red by any means for his tackle, was legitimately a tactical ankle-tap which is a yellow all day long

Pretty bizarre red card. Singh ankle tapped the opposition player, definite yellow but no way was that a red card. Terrible reffing.

Not a great game, firs play Singh gives the ball away and Wurzburger get a good chance.

Red card sequence begins 1:26 through the highlights

You don't need to sprechen Deutsch, to understand at the end of those highlights that the BM II coach is giving the ref a verbal, re Singh's send off.

Wonder if he will cope a suspension or not.

It wasnt from "physicality".

He chopped a player down from behind without any attempt to play the ball.

He was a bit unlucky for it to be given red as it isn't usually, but I'd actuallyy be happy for that type of intentional professional foul to be given as red more often.

This is a common variety Yellow card. If I were to guess, the referee may feel that there is zero chance to play the ball......but the violence/brutality is low for the red card threshold.

There is one other circumstance where I could make this a red card but the timing of the game and this clip in isolation, probably doesn’t support that scenario so yellow should be the sanction.

Played 2nd half in a friendly away to Bundesliga 2 side Nürnberg.

Bayern subbed off their whole 1st eleven at HT, when score was 1-1.

Finished a 5-2 loss, so not a great 2nd half for Singh and the younger brigade perhaps. All part of the learning curve.

Bundesliga resumes tomorrow with Bayern (3rd) travelling to Hertha Berlin (14th).

Unfortunately seems Singh's harsh red card in his last Liga 3 game for Bayern II wasn't rescinded, so he is suspended for tomorrow.

That sucks.

Matt Leckie out for Berlin, injured.

Was absent for a team-building exercise that the entire Bayern II team went on to the Alps this week, including star players. Now that’s either really good news or really bad - willing to bet he stayed training with the first team

Yes most probably with the first team.

Soccerway lists him as still suspended, so unavailable for Bayern's match against Schalke this weekend.

I thought when they brought in their new coach the first thing he did was permanently bring Singh to the first team.

no, he only trains with the first team along with three others - initially thought to be on a temporary basis because of injuries

Bayern thrash Schalke 5-0, to go 2nd in the Bundesliga, just a point adrift of first spot. Top of the table Leipzig lost to Frankfurt earlier.

Singh was listed as suspended.

That means he has been suspended for the last two Bundesliga games.

So he could well now be available for the BM II side, who resume their Liga 3 season tomorrow, with a game against Uerdingen.

Singh not in match day squad as BM II beat Uerdingen 3-0.

Zirkzee with a goal, and an assist.

Gives BM II a 5 point buffer on the relegation spots.

In Liga 3 BM II (12th) beat Hansa Rostock 1-0 (9th), and remain 5 points clear of the relegation spots.

No Singh in match day squad.

Presume he travelled with the Bayern first team to Mainz, who played at the same time - but Singh not listed in the match day squad there either. Bayern with a 3-1 win, after being up 3-0 at 26 min mark.

Singh actually hasn't played any competitive football for over a month now.
