It has been noted that a player who is playing Cap Prem for one club has also taken the field for another club in 17s B? Is this allowed?

Don't believe there are any regs around players being between seniors and U17s are there?

34 PLAYER REGRADING
34.1 A registered player can play in any team entered by their club, in any league, of any competition at the discretion of their club, if the re-grade and eligibility rules are followed.
34.2 A player will be automatically graded to the team they play their first competition game of a new season for.
34.3 Named substitutes who do not take the field, are not graded to the higher team.
The intent of the above regulation is to allow players to be named as a higher-grade substitute, but still play lower in the grades without being considered a re-grade.
34.4 Player regrade rules do not apply between different competition types (Men’s Leagues, Women’s Leagues, Masters League, Junior Leagues etc.)
34.4.1 Dispensation and Player Eligibility criteria still apply.
34.5 A player can only be re-graded once during any one week, including Easter and Queen’s Birthday weeks.
34.6 Failure to comply with these regulations will result in a 3 – 0 win to the opposing team.
34.7 Capital Development Leagues
34.7.1 Up to four players in total can be re-graded down from a Capital Development League team per matchday:
a This must be to the club’s next adjacent team.
34.7.2 Any player who reaches 66% of league matches for any one team cannot re-grade down again to a team in a lower division for the remainder of that season.
34.7.3 No player can be re-graded within their club following conclusion of their current team’s matches. This regulation applies if the league they are entered in is unfinished.

----

Oh wait- just clicked that the issue was they played for a different club? That's a bit of a different issue.

Different clubs however, so would presume that makes it a bit more naughty. The U17B team that has taken him will be the ones to get the punishment.

Does anyone know the proper rules re Covid and Level 2 and club sport?

Went to watch the Wainui v Upper Hutt game last Saturday.  Good crowd there, certainly well in advance of 100, i would have thought maybe double that.  Club rooms open and i was able to buy hot chips and a cold coke at half time.

Yet a work colleague tells me that she had to watch a Premier club rugby game at Evans Bay through the fence from the footpath because of Covid restrictions.  Players, coaches etc and referees were counted in the 100 so they only let a handful of spectators through the gate all of whom had to sign in.

  Community sports At Level 2

Community sports are limited to groups of 100 in a defined space. A sports field can have multiple defined spaces by keeping:

  • people in groups of up to 100
  • groups separate either through consistent 2 metre physical distancing when outdoors or barriers.

Groups should be prevented from intermingling or sharing common facilities at the same time.

For example, a game of rugby can occur so long as there are no more than 100 people on the field. If that field has a stand on either side, up to 100 people can gather in each stand if they are kept separate from those from the other stand and from players and umpires on the field.

Organisers and the person in control of the premises are responsible for collecting contact tracing information.

Guidelines from Sport New Zealand(external link)

So multiple groups of up to 100 can watch sport if each group separates by 2 metres. Clubrooms open but 1 metre seperation.

Rugby imposed their own rules around spectators - but thats probably because they usually get more than 100 to most club games.

It's also a bit easier for rugby as several of their grounds are enclosed unlike places like Wakefield Park or Richard Prouse

the limit of 100 applies to areas for eg at Newtown Park, Wellington United could let 100 into the stand and another 100 on the other side of the ground (if only we regularly got 100+)  but only 100 would be allowed in the clubrooms at anyone time

In the clubrooms you should be able to buy what you want but it is suppose to be table service only, but not everywhere is doing that eg I go to a pub where you can order at the bar but they will bring the drinks over to you

Went and watched Wainui vs Olympic today.

Was impressed with Both sides. Hamish Watson and Tom Jackson were up top for the greeks.

I can see why Wainui are contesting the title, their short little striker is Superb! Surely Team Wellington must be looking at him for the summer league?

Kailan Gould - still only 22 and he was trialling at a few Football League clubs before coming to NZ. Definitely one to keep an eye on for TW

Went to watch Seatoun today against Miramar. Close game & Seatoun made a great comeback to make it 2-2, before Miramar scored late to win it. Thought Miramar were good value for their win on balance. A wet day, but good vantage point from the balcony there.

There was a bit of talk during the game that last week when Miramar lost to North Wellington, NW allegedly fielded a player that had played 66% of games already for the Central League team & scored, so therefore ineligible. I don't really know what the rules are, but if true I would think Seatoun & Vic Uni will pretty pissed.

What they have done is particularly dumb. The player in question played in all of their first 12 CL games and then the day after that 12th game they played him in the reserves.

If he had missed games and they weren't sure it would be one thing, but they either don't know the regulation or blatantly ignored it.

I heard there was. Do people think the 'three day rule' should apply to this reg breach?

No.

For such an obvious & blatant breaching of a simple rule (If that is the case) then I don't think it "fair" on any the other teams not at the "offending" game who wouldn't directly witness the rule breach to firstly have to heard about it & then sent in official complaint within 3 days. It shouldn't be possible for a team to "get away with it" just because the Fever rumour mill is slow on the uptake ;-)

It seems a simple rule to follow & with Comet etc player games are easily tracked, (aren't they?). No time limit for enforcement gets my vote!

Edit; Just thought about this again..

Do all teams admin have the ability to see all other teams starting lineups, player stats, number of games played, teams played for in Comet etc at all times ? . If so that may change my thinking

Also, rather than it being upto clubs to protest rule breaches, maybe Capital Football should have some responsibility to check certain details & ensure rules are being followed & enforce sanctions without needing a club to protest first?

They do once each game has been set to 'played' by the Officials- typically a few minutes to hours post-game.

Wainui 3-1 down with 15 to play. They go on to score 3 to win 4-3. Would love to be a fly on the wall when they get back to the Wainui clubbies during those celebrations!

Imagine these academies heading over the hill to concrete bunkers of changing rooms, then having to listen to the oldies in the clubbies a few codys deep, giving them all shark for their haircuts etc.
