West’s 6-1 over Miramar (when I left). Has Team Wellington taken the sting out of Miramar Central League team? Why are they so average in this league

No, just a bad season for Mar, when they didn't have TW players they lost 6-1 to Wellington United

Wests were just exceptional today, played some lovely football. When a team loses 8-2 you think that must be pretty bad, but Miramar weren't bad today they managed 15 shots (as opposed to Wests 33) they just never had a chance and were beaten by a much better team on the day

I'd be surprised if Napier lost it from here with only 3 weeks to go.

Napier have Havelock, Lower Hutt (A) and Wairarapa

West's have Stop Out, Wellington United (A) and Havelock

At other end of table

Karori have Lower Hutt, Wairarapa (A) and Miramar (Could be a lot riding on this game)

Havelock have Napier (A), Olympic and then West's (A)

Wests have a great goal difference though, and Stop Out are the only one of those teams that have caused them trouble so far. Napier will still need at least two wins and a draw because I can see Wests winning all three.

I expect Napier to win all three, I actually think them getting knocked out of Chatham Cup helped them, be even better for them if Wairarapa happen to win their next Chatham Cup game and go deeper as it'll split there priorities. Also helps that Wairarapa game is a home one for them as well.

But yes I do also see West's winning their three games as well

will be interesting, I did comment after the game today it's a shame Wests won't win the league as they have been playing some of the best football seen in Wellington for some time (caveat here - esp for Ole Sole - I've not seen enough of Napier this year to say whether or not its the best in the central league, although I think it is)

Of Napier's remaining games, they should win the first two comfortably, although Lower Hutt do have a habit of upsetting teams with something to play for, especially towards the end of the season. Napiers last game against rapa could go either way, but the fact it is in Napier helps them

Wests v Stop Out next week could decided it, although if Wests play like they did today then they'll be winning this one. It's a sunday game at endeavour, so if you got nothing else to do get down there (just mind the usual entrance is closed due to massive subsidence in the road - so you either have to park and walk down or drive round the back way, where they've created a new road down on what used to be the path)

at the bottom end, good result today for Havelock North but can't see them getting anything else for the end of the season and they need to get more points that Waterside as goal difference is Waterside -12, Havelock North -34

Echo Journeyfan- Wests were phenomenal today. Agree, i don't think either team will drop points; title is NCRs.

The title is NCR's to lose.  Anything can happen and has in the past.  I think NCR will win, but they can't afford any slip ups

That's probably it with Napier having a five point lead now after beating Havelock 1-0 while West's drew with Stop Out 0-0. Also with Havelock losing and Waterside picking up a point against Lower Hutt, the other end of the table is almost confirmed too.

Games left:

Napier have Lower Hutt (A) and Wairarapa

West's have Wellington United (A) and Havelock

Comet is borked for that game. Actual score was 2-1 to wests. Some very physical play in the last 15, judging by the videos on twitter.

McPeake made several great saves today, Wests could have scored 4 or 5 on another day. Stop Out were very efficient when they managed to counter, Corrales the best player over the course of the game, though he looks so out of place playing in such a defensive system.

A very good game. Stop Out's game plan was to frustrate Wests similar to the way Bay Olympic did last year when they won the Chatham Cup Quarter Final and it almost paid off.

Stop Out also had their share of clear chances as well which they did not take but in the end Wests deserved to win as their fitness told.

Not the first time they've got stroppy on SM and I'm sure it won't be the last.

Coralles behaviour at the end and after the game yesterday is what you might expect from a five year old.

Quite fitting seeing as he took the match ball and hoofed it into the Montessori behind the car park after the game.

West beat United 4-1 to keep things interesting for another week. United scored after about 15 minutes but it was all Wests after that.

Bizarre moment after Max Batchelor scored United's goal; he whipped a Lone Ranger mask out of his sock, put it on and stopped in front of Declan Edge to do a little robotic movement which seemed to end with him offering a handshake.

Declan just stared at him until he moved and then had a go at Paul Temple, who claimed no prior knowledge. Paul subbed Max about five minutes later.

I don't know if the mods do a "post of the year" but this surely should be up there.

Some context would be nice. Firstly, how old is this kid? Takes a big personality to do something like that, which is not normal in NZ especially at a young age. I have no idea why he did it, maybe it’s out of line? but I find it interesting that it happened at all in this setting.

He's 16 or 17.

There isn't a ton of other context I can offer other than the fact that there is a competitive animus between Ole and the Nix academy, though many of the players get on (Cacacae watched part of the game with Parker-Price, Rogerson, and Wilkins). I don't know if Batchelor has any personal history with Declan.

Having said that, I was told yesterday Temple subbed off two players in a game against Wairarapa earlier this year after they sledged Ifill, so it might not be a totally unprecedented incident.

18.

Edge shook Sarpreet's hand after a game a while back then turned away and left Bachelor hanging. Or so one story goes.

Immature, but just a bit of banter. Needed someone mature on the other end. Edge could have just bantered back with a "haven't won it yet" type comment, but I guess that's not Declan.

Without knowing that background it came across as very contemptuous towards Declan and Wests, especially after a 15th minute goal in a game they went on to lose convincingly. I thought Temple did the right thing in dragging him.
