Yes Red Devil, quality side.. Must have been hard on the players with what has been going on off the field, but the last couple of weeks have proven even more so what a talented side they have.. Lets just hope that this appeal goes well, there is no way that this team deserves to be anywhere but the top.

western 1 fc2011 0

pretty scrappy game could have gone either way.. western finally managed to put the ball in the back of the net on 90 minutes. Wild celebrations from a strong crowd of 1000. Somebody forgot to put the timer on at ASB so at the final whistle the time read 88 minutes.. FC players didn't look convinced the ref had played the full 90.

Big night at Western AFC tonight - well deserved.

Well surely the fact they went to -12 will be revoked.  So if we gave them those 12 points back, plus the 2 wins they've had since, that would mean 18 and top of the table.

I vote for that.

Uni on 22 points, 9 points clear of second! Is the league becoming a farce at present??? CTFC losing 2 in a row and 3-2 against Mid Canterbury who were absolutely schooled by Uni 7-0 the week before! You now have Hornby equal top, United equal top but have lost 4, WTF??

I do believe Uni have been dealt a pretty bad hand, surely the games that the unregistered player played in being reversed is enough punishment.

They are the best side in this league and given that the 5 games(4 wins and a draw) 13pts were stripped this is enough punishment.

This would leave the Uni boys a chance of winning the rest of their games and still win the league.

I think the league should look like this

Waimak 13 CUFC 13 CTFC 13 Hornby 13 FC20 12 Mid Cant 11 Uni 9 Selwyn 4

Any MPL match reports?

Watched the Western FC game it should have ended up with alot more than just the one goal. Both sides had plenty of chances go begging in the first half with Western finishing the stronger and in the end deserved the win. FC looked to attack more and if they continue to do this can see them picking up points in the coming weeks and close the gap at the bottom.

Just looking the the draw and FC's next three games are the three teams currently 5th to 7th on the table, in order of the games play Halswell, then Nomads followed by Coastal, with the next two games for Nomads - Coastal then FC so the relegation spot may become allot more clearer in the next few rounds.

Any MPL match reports?

Watched Bays/Coastal. Hummer of a game, one for the purists with the 2 early soft goals Bays scored being the difference in the end. new look Coastal struggled to get combinations going while Bays defended high and looked to force mistakes as Coastal endeavoured to play out from the back. Bays played to their strengths with Kamo having a strong game and Highfield saving their bacon several times. Coastal started to dominate the 2nd half and could have brought it back to 2-1 with a good one on one for Camel going begging which would have made the game interesting. As so often happens Bays sowed the game up shortly afterwards with a well taken goal, only for Coastal to reply with the goal of the game, flick on header from Camel well read by Smash Wellbourn who volleyed home from 20 yards, only to be sent off for his 2nd undeserved (dissent) yellow a few minutes later. Good win for Bays, promising start to Turnbull's coaching career at this level, bad day for referees.
Sad end to a good day for Coastal, win for Premier women returning them to the top of the table, PDL turned a first round 8-2 hiding from Bays into a 4-1 win.

True AW, 3 more games will see the 2nd round completed and final standings will start to play out especially at the top and bottom, clearly a top 4 bottom 4 split now so let the dog fight begin. FC looking good for the drop. Only survived last year with a goal in the last minute of the season keeping them up, trouble they have is there is no other team as poor as United were last year in this years competition.

Both Halswell and Bays had a player sent off - straight red cards - Steve Neame in the 1st half for the Hawks handling on the line, a great save if he was the keeper and Adam Highfield for Bays late in the game for pushing a Westen player in the back of the head.

I don't think Uni are as good as you think, will be happy to be proven wrong.
Reasons for this are.
Playing a player [striker or midfield] that couldn't make the Nomads PDL [not at Div 1 or MPL] team over the last two seasons.
Got smacked by Nomads last year by 5 goals I think who ran away with Div 1.
Div 1 is a poor league as far as the standard of football from some teams and has not been good for about 6 or more years.
So it's easy to look good against crap teams.
Look at Nomads this year and expect Uni if promoted to be below them next year.
Maybe the coaching at Uni is at a level above Nomads and FC so give you that tick.

yes scottie road, seen them play?? Any team that can go 8 games unbeaten, conceeding just 1 and along the way cruising by speaking to some deserves a bit of credit..

Your comments would appear that you dont know much about football.. A) Any player can make the most of opportunities if and when provided ( think you will find this player is not starting ). B) I'm pretty sure this season is a hell of a lot different from last in terms of player quality, coaching and technical support C) They already comfortably beat a MPL side, and think you will find they would more than compete in MPL next season. D) And their reserves lost to Western MPL 3-2.. Think you will find they deserve more credit! Another jealous ChCh United or Waimak supporter maybe?
