A few milestones today.

Lyle Matthysen's 6 goals today is the most scored in a single MPL a game.

Cashmere Technical's 12 - 0 win over Western equals the highest win / loss in the league, only other 12 - 0 scoreline was in the 2002 season when ChCh Technical defeated Woolston WMC

With today's win Cashmere Technical become just the fifth side to amass 400 MPL points, in just 163, other clubs in the 400 points club are Nelson Suburbs (222 games), Ferrymead Bays (226), Western (239) and Nomads (282)

Ant Jones played in his 150th game for Coastal

Thanks JourneyFan, they do a good job after the games, and it's a great app on the whole.

I just like to know what's going on in other games while the game I'm watching is on, you know. It was good with Bet365 as they had someone there watching and updating, but now it looks like no other club tweets or updates anywhere. Coastal do a good job with the score updates but nothing else from anyone as far as I can see.

Sorry Vim for the lack of updates on Saturday but after watching most of the WPL game between Halswell and Coastal I had to go to a reunion for some of my former workmates, many I had not seen seen the early mid 1980's, so for the first time that I can recall the MPL was on the back burner. Will see you at Linfield on Saturday in what should be a cracker of a game.

Hey man, in no way was I giving you a hard time, it's just noticeable when you're not there! Would be great for clubs to have more of a social media presence on game day that's all.

Yes Satdy is going to be massive!!!

Coastal have never beaten Cashmere Technical in a home fixture in the MPL, both their wins have been on the road.

Top of the table clash on Saturday, so Linfield Park is the place to be when Coastal Spirit take on leader's Cashmere Technical. Early game also likely to be a goodie, with ChCh United hosting Nelson Suburbs. The Historic Derby has Nomads visiting Western with the final game of the round seeing Ferrymead Bays entertaining Selwyn.

If Tech and Coastal players make up the majority of the Dragons squad then we are sure fire wooden spooners this year. Awful standard of football on a paddock of grass not suitable for 8 year olds. And the two "coaches" on the sideline did absolutely nothing to help improve the game either, just yelling and screaming at whoever listened. Dreadful

Oh wow, I must have missed this riveting report of the game through all my tears on the weekend, thanks for your feedback.

In terms of Canterbury United, Coastal has 1 player in the team (JJ) and by my rough count, Tech has 8, plus 2 Southern Utd. So yer, if the link is between why the Dragons are sh!t, bottom of the table this year and perhaps next season, I agree, it's Tech's fault.

Despite my beloved team losing, I really enjoyed the game. It was close, we both had chances, and on a different day against a different team with a different ref, we may have actually got a penalty. You know it's bad when the opposition captain gets up at the post-match and agrees it was. There were heaps of people at the game, about the same as Canterbury Utd, and it was a battle. Yes the pitch ain't the greatest, however that's how we have had to roll out East. We don't all get pitches paid for and maintained, we make do with what we've got.

I hope to see your cheery face at the next game, come and say hi. I'll be the one crying into my Double Brown.

Wow Chch Utd have been pretty bad this year right? Word on the street there may be coaching dramas there too.

Another tough day in the office for Coastal, outplayed again unfortunately.  The good news is I won the raffle. We may get beaten every year by them, but I'll take a box of groceries as a win.

Next week Nelson!
