Canterbury United is a regional club that has support from people from other city clubs.

Christchurch United is a city club that has support from its members.

Despite its poor financial form, I hope Canterbury Utd stays as our regional representative team.

The remaining games count towards the CCL league as far as we’re aware and the overall title

Last season was called the Mainland Play-off series so assume it would be somethig similar this season, with the highest placed team in play-off series from the CCL earning the right to either go up or go in any play-off series if any club that wins the Nelson Bays and or Marlborough Div 1 are seeking to play on the MPL.

Benchwarmer is correct Chch United have only won the CCL first 2 rounds. As decided by clubs at the start of the year, the CCL winner of the MPQL (7 CCL plus 3 bottom MPL) gets possible promotion, the lowest MPL gets demoted to CCL in 2020. Yes FC Nelson have registered interest - this assumes they will Nelson Div 1.

So theoretically possible for Chch United to miss out on a possible MPL promotion game with FC Nelson, but very unlikely.

Yes correct, still one round to play including the 3 bottom MPL teams. Points carry on including goals for and against etc.

Bottom of the 3 MPL teams after the round go down and top of the CCL goes into the play-off or goes up if no play-off.

Sounds like FC Nelson are looking for promotion if they win the Nelson Bays Div 1 - the are currently on top of the table, so if it stay that way would be a play-off, home and away, with the top side form the CCL to see which side will goes up.

Interesting game today, I did not expect us to win with all the missing players we had (3-4 usual players out, good thing all other games were cancelled as we would have struggled for 11 - but I suspect not uncommon with most clubs at the moment). Wanna shout our to Reserves lads who stepped up. I think the result was correct based upon chances and the hard work by the Burwood lads. There are no simple equations to our success, comes down to great work by our coaches, and hard work by our players. And at times we struggle, but as a small club we don't give up - my opinion maybe. The club cry is Up The Wood (UTW) - not chosen by me, but all the lads are into it. As well all our lads (all teams) pay the same subscriptions - I wonder how many clubs can say this :). I'd love to have the $$$ as Ch$rubles$ United, but I'd much rather be in my club - happy not to buy leagues.

Thanks Le Mur, your boys seem to be over achieving this year, great to see. Along with Parklands too, used to be the two of the less successful teams in CCL but are having good seasons so far. Particularly parklands with a slow start to the season for them (penny for your thoughts benchwarmer?) Great having some good competition in the CCL rather than just a few teams doing well, despite United in the league.

We’ve a very young squad across both Firsts and Reserves and so with a new coach this year too it has taken time for players to bed in. Other than a couple of old hands the majority of our wider squad are under the age of 25, with a large majority still eligible for 19th Grade.

If the squad can stay together over the next few years, as well as adding in the 17th grade players that have in recent weeks been getting some action in the Reserves grade then we’ve a chance to continue to grow.

Removing Christchurch United, who should go up even with a potential play off games, next season’s CCL could be very open

Yea well said Benchie, good to see Burwood and Parklands plugging away and getting some traction. Possibly helps that Coastal are looking elsewhere for players these days lol?? United are clearly out of their depth in the CCL, be interesting to see a) what would happen if they didn't win promotion and b) how they'll go next year if they do. Nice to see there are other clubs like Coastal where all first team players pay the same sub LeMur. Keep up the good work.

I agree with you benchie, be very interesting season next year. Great too hear you guys have some young players coming through. Hope this means the longevity of any future success Parklands has is constant. Didn’t know how young the make up of the parklands squad was (including reserves).

Wasn't someone bagging Parklands and Burwood at the beginning of the season? Seems they may have some egg on their face...
