The club Burfoot was at, Eastern Lions, plays in the 3rd tier in Victoria, NPL2 East; and they currently sit 8th out of 10. Who advised him to try his luck there?

[/quotie

If you take away the A league which is national I think NPL 2 east is second tier but at the end of the day I supposed they asked and the thought of moving to Melbourne,,,,,,,,,

Melville didn't help their cause with very poor discipline finishing the game with only 9 men.  One sent for a lame headbutt and the other for 2 yellows - the second for cynically taking out Sam after he had once again ran around him.

I was at the game and agree. Burfoot was head and shoulders above the rest. Started off a bit shaky but that could be due to coming in off ten days with the all whites! Heard from a club member that he (Burfoot) was not enjoying Australia, not happy with the way his team played and simply wanted to come home.

Birko were far to good for Melville and with some injured players returning could make a serious move for the top spot!

Any idea why he didn't go back to springs?

He is Birko youth tbf.

I want to ask a question and see what everyone thinks but before I do I want to say that I have absolutely nothing against the lad I am going to mention but it really is a situation that appears a little strange to me! Anyway.....Clayton Lewis - he was sent home from the All White camp due to a positive drug test and although I am sure there is nothing in it, I understood that he was to stand down from all football until the matter had been resolved, which I also understood may have taken quite a few months. However, almost immediately upon his return to NZ he has been playing for Onehunga Sports!

Do we know if he has since been cleared of any wrong doing? If not it seems a little strange that he is allowed to carry on playing!

Again I have nothing against the lad but wondered what the protocol was here and if he should be actually playing while still under investigation. If he is found to have done something wrong then surely all the games or Onehunga will come under scrutiny as well!

Went back to the newspaper articles and it appears that there was an agreement between NZF and Lewis just not to play the Internationals and he isn't subject to any stand down anywhere else.

"NZ Football said the drug was prescribed to Lewis by a doctor to treat "longstanding asthma problems" and added he was not the subject to any disciplinary proceedings or playing suspension. In consultation with Lewis, NZF decided he will not be available for selection for representative matches while the investigation process is completed."

As I said I am sure it will all be fine but with the current troubles at NZ football and with player registration issues all the fashion I'm not sure that it is a good idea to continue playing especially as the Drug Free Sport NZ investigation is still taking place!

Just suppose for one minute that they don't absolutely clear him and it transpires he took more medication than he was supposed to (even by mistake) then surely that opens up a can of worms for Onehunga Sports......

True it could, but maybe that is a risk they have decided to take and hope that he just gets cleared.

The few times I've seen Sports play it's like they were all on drugs.

I think (if it's the one I'm thinking of) it's couch (summer grass) which goes dormant when the temperature drops. More often than not these fields are lightly oversewn with rye grass for winter. That can have a detrimental effect on the couch sometimes if the rye out-competes it so, occasionally they will try to get the couch through winter on its own. That's just me assuming that's what they're doing knowing that sometimes contractors/councils do that. Could be wrong but is a likely theory.

Yeah same thing, heard it was a trial. I haven't heard a whole heap about how that's gone but I would've thought Wellington's climate would be too cold for couch.

Central United 3 (Dordevic, Zambrano, Nakashima) Bay Olympic 0 all three goals in the second half but Central battered them all the way through. No assaults in the changing rooms or World War III on the pitch this time.

Steven Carmichael scores 3. Is this his first hat trick since the U-17's beat Uzbekistan 4-1 in 2011 and he declared himself available for Arsenal?

Central 7 (Tade x3, Zambrano x2 Ilich, Cochran) East Coast Bays 1 (Baker)

Judd Baker scored from a tap in early on but after that it was basically one way traffic had Central taken all their chances they would've scored 12 or 13 tonight.

was at the Onehunga Sports v Birko game yesterday.

Not quite sure how OS didn't score a hatful as Birko only had 4 usual starters as the coach decided to rest most of the team for the Chatham Cup! It must have been the youngest team ever to play in the league.

having said that 3 great second half goals secured the win and it was interesting to see burfoot against Hudson-wihongi and Moses Dyer. To be honest I didn't realise that Dyer was on the pitch and I thought Andrew Milne was Sports best midfielder! Burfoot was the best player on the pich and set up two goals and scored a cracker for himself! Not quite sure why Lewis, Dyer and Wihongi seem to be ahead of him

Yes, was at the last training camp in Brisbane before the Nations Cup but got left behind as Hudson preferred Dyer??, Prevolic and Hudson-Wihongi. Lewis obviously got sent home because of the drugs thing.

Why would they have an ineligible player at their training camp (effectively on standby in case someone got hurt)?

Why would we have ineligible players at the Olympic qualifying tournament? Same answer
